The Argan tree is endemic to the UNESCO biosphere reserve in Southwestern Morocco. It looks similar to an olive tree, and once it is about 50 years old, it starts to produce fruits that look like an almond. These are hand picked, sun dried and hand cracked open to access the precious kernels protected inside the shell. The kernels are then meticulously toasted and pressed to extract Argan oil. It takes 15 hours and 60 lbs of fruit to produce just 32 oz of this pure goodness!
